About Otomo FX

We are a London-based VFX studio that specialises in creating stunning visual effects.

We work with clients such as Netflix, HBO, Annapurna Pictures, MGM, Fox and National Geographic on Oscar-nominated films, TV productions, commercials, and documentaries.  Founded by Veronica and Steve, two VFX nerds, OTOMO FX has  since grown and now counts on a team of talented artists able to bring any vision and scale of production to life.

In amongst our work on features and TV series we like to keep ourselves on our toes by doing some more conceptual work. We had the privilege of working alongisde Acute Art on world-renowned sculptor Anish Kapoor's VR experience 'Into Yourself, Fall' and on two full CG music videos for the extraordinary contemporary painter and musician, Issy Wood.

OUR GOALS

Otomo is a Japanese tradition in which a creative master's disciple can bridge the gap between the master's creativity and the world around them.  In this way, we at Otomo set out to act as a conduit to realise the full creative vision of those who work with us.

Our Directors

Steve hails from the wild highlands of Scotland. With his Physics degree and technical ability, Steve arrived at VFX spurred by his love of Sci-Fi. As OTOMO’s resident catalogue of everything Sci-Fi Steve loves a good futuristic world and a loud blockbuster. He is an innate problem solver, relentless and fixated on figuring out the best way to accomplish the task at hand, as well as having great creative vision.

Veronica, aka V, grew up in the megalopolis of São Paulo, Brazil. She found her true calling in VFX after studying Literature and working for years as a Graphic Designer. VFX brought it all together for V; her love of storytelling with her experience in developing graphic concepts. VFX hooked her the moment she understood that this field demands lifelong learning, there’s always something new to master and not getting too comfortable suits her! V brings a conceptual edge, an aesthetic sensibility developed through her appreciation of contemporary art, to every job at OTOMO.

V and Steve go way back to their long-lost university days, where they spent a lot of time arguing over what Steve thinks is cool versus what V thinks is cool.  Founding OTOMO together, they set out to do work that is multi-faceted and has great range in concept, design and ideas.  With a combined 30 years experience in the industry, they manage a team of talented artists and continue relentlessly with their plans of leading Otomo FX to take over the world.
